    How it works

As easy as texting a friend who’s already at the shop.

    1. 1

      Send your list, your way

Type it in one message or several, or record a voice note in Nepali or English. Messy lists, half-sentences and romanized Nepali like “2 ota anda chahiyo” are all fine. We read it back as a clean list with Confirm and Change something buttons.

      We find the nearest driver

Once you confirm, shopmate offers your order to the closest available driver on WhatsApp. When they accept, you get their name and number, and you can talk to them directly.

      Your driver does the shopping

They buy everything at a nearby shop with their own money, and call you before buying to check the list. If something is out of stock, you decide what to get instead.

    Good to know

Something else on your mind? Ask us on WhatsApp.

Do I need to download an app?

No. If you have WhatsApp, you have shopmate. Save our number and send a message whenever you need something. The first time, we’ll ask for your address and remember it.

    How much does it cost?

You pay the shop price for your groceries plus a flat NPR 120 delivery fee. No markups, no subscription, no minimum order.

    How do I pay?

Pay your driver in cash when they arrive. The receipt from the shop comes with your bag.

Can I really just send a voice note?

Yes, in Nepali or English. Say it the way you’d say it to a friend. We turn it into a written list in English and send it back with Confirm and Change something, so you can check nothing was missed.

    Can I write in Nepali?

Yes, in romanized Nepali, like “2 ota anda chahiyo”. We reply in English and send your list back so you can check nothing was missed.

What happens if something is out of stock?

Your driver calls you before buying and asks before swapping anything. If you don’t want a replacement, they’ll leave it out.

Can I order for someone else?

Of course. Message us their address before you send the list and we’ll deliver there. It’s an easy way to look after family who live across town.

How will I know when my order is coming?

When a driver accepts your order, we send you their name and number. From there you talk to them directly.

    Which areas do you cover?

We deliver across the Kathmandu valley: Kathmandu (Thamel, Maharajgunj, Baneshwor, Boudha), Lalitpur (Patan, Jhamsikhel, Pulchowk) and Bhaktapur (Thimi, Suryabinayak). We’re growing neighbourhood by neighbourhood, so send us your address on WhatsApp to check.

How do I become a delivery driver?

Message us on WhatsApp and say you’d like to deliver. We’ll ask for your name, address, a selfie, your base neighbourhood, a citizenship card or licence photo and your vehicle and plate. Once you’re approved, send “on” whenever you want orders near your base.

    What’s for dinner?

Send us your list. We’ll take it from there.
